Mobile Radio's
Standard Mobiles :- Generally with around 4 channels, these units are used in simple but effective wider area systems – such as Taxi and Fleet communications. Most “Mobiles” have the ability to be used as a “Fixed Base”, allowing them to be mains powered and used as a low cost Base station for simplex systems. This can also be used with on-site systems, where communication is required generally between fixed points and therefore saves on changing batteries on handportables
Most Fleet or Wide Area systems are licenced with a higher output power than an on-site system, therefore giving greater communication range.

Systems Mobiles :-Systems mobiles generally have a higher channel capacity ( up to 250 )which can be used for systems with many RF channels [as licenced] or to split the existing channels into different groups by using different CTCSS or “Sub tones” [as licenced].
Additionally, Systems mobiles can have the ability to send and receive Selcall/DTMF signalling which is used to define the users into dedicated groups and individual users – making the radio system as simple as a telephone system with one-to-one conversations.
A Systems mobile as a “Fixed Base” can be used to display the incoming call numbers of handportables and mobiles on the network so this feature is useful for Lone worker and environments where the operator needs to know the Identity of the users.
Some Mobiles have Keypads, which allows them to make PABX/PSTN calls via the radio system ( if the base equipment is fitted with a Telephone “Patch”).
